I quite often got asked by customers “what is the different between Acrylic and Gel?” or ” which one is better?” You may find the answer from other salons like “Gel is better, Gel last longer”, and that’s about it. In this article im talking about GEL POWDER not GEL COLOUR (often known as UV GEL), i will cover this in another article.

  • Gel Nails or Acrylic Nails…Which is Better?

ANSWER: Neither is “better”, it is a matter of preference. It is depend on people nail conditions, and the nails bed. sometimes gel suit better for some but not others. Gel and acrylic nails have similar results. They can lengthen short nails, strengthen nails, and make your fingers look longer and more slender. There are some pros and cons that might help you decide which nail application to choose. They are both have pros and cons. Gel however have some better preferences

GEL NAILS are an extremely natural-looking enhancement: clear, non-yellowing, nonporous, resist lifting, longer lasting. Gel nails can be used for natural nail overlays (actually one of the most difficult techniques–but it looks the easiest) Gel nail mixtures lack the fumes associated with acrylic nails – they’re considered a safer, more eco-friendly option.

  • Benefits of Gel Nails:

Odorless Natural Feeling Last longer in the long run.(For example: Acrylic need to take off for a new set after 2-3 months, gel can last from 3-4 months for its advantages) Crystal Clear

ACRYLICS NAILS on the other hand are very strong. When done correctly and with proper nail care, they can last a long time and are very robust. Acrylic nail application tends to cost less than gel nail application. Acrylics may look less natural than gel nails, especially if applied incorrectly.

Benefits of ACRYLICS Nails:

  • Strong
  • Long Lasting
  • Natural looking
  • Suit for almost anyone

What would suit best for your nails?

If you have had your nails done either with Gel or Acrylic then you would know what you are happy with, i would recommend you to stick with what staying on your nails best. If you don’t know or you may experience with lifting nails after a few days of applicant. you can try to switch from Acrylic to GEL or GEL to Acrylic. Like i said some people nails suit better with ACRYLIC and some suit better with GEL. In general, Gel is good for overlays (no extensions), normal extensions, natural nails, short nails, for a long run (less take off frequent) ACRYLIC however better for long nails, normal extensions, colouring, if you want fresh set more often.

Note: If a nail breaks, you may be in for some trouble. It can sometimes be more of a shatter effect than a clean break, so self-fixing a break is not usually an option. You’ll need to make an appointment Or contact us right away to fix your nails. PLEASE DO NOT try to pull the rest of yourself. I have seen a lot of customers coming to the salon with there nail beds damaged because they either picked or bit then all off themselves. Im telling you IT’S NOT WORTH IT, your nails deserve better.
